The Membership Process

Currently, Moora Moora has approximately 50 members and residents, who live here full-time. The process of becoming a member of Moora Moora involves a number of steps and takes more than a year.

The first point of contact is often through attending a Visitor Day, held on the first Sunday of each month. Interested visitors are then invited to participate in our co-op workdays, also held on the first Sunday of every month.

We encourage those interested in membership to visit regularly, to gain a deeper understanding of the various aspects of community living. We have co-op workdays, director and community meetings, and various social events. Such participation is essential in getting to know Moora Moora, our community members and to become known in turn.

BECOME A NON- MEMBER RESIDENT

After at least three months of regular involvement as a Friend, the next step is to apply to become a Non-Member Resident, if housing is available. Living as a Non-Member Resident provides a trial period of experiencing life within our off-grid, intentional community on Mount Toolebewong.

Non-Member Residency is usually granted for a 12 month period, allowing daily involvement in cluster and community activities at Moora Moora. The change in lifestyle coupled with earning a living, being more self-reliant in a more demanding environment and keeping up outside commitments can be challenging.

Non-Member Residents are expected to attend workdays, Director and Community Meetings, join groups and committees and to be actively involved in all aspects of community life.

BECOME A MEMBER

After at least 9 months, a Non-Member Resident can nominate for membership.

Nomination involves a number of processes and occurs over two months. It is designed to ensure a positive and beneficial fit between the nominated Non-Member Resident and Moora Moora.

Once a member there is an opportunity to purchase a house that is for sale.

We continue to welcome new members to our community. If you would like to know more about becoming a member please contact our membership committee via the contact form.
